EBONYI WORKERS TO UNDERGO VERIFICATION BEFORE PAYMENT OF JUNE SALARY
A verification exercise of all the employees of Ebonyi state
Govt is to be carried out from Monday next week.
The comr for information and state orientation Dr
Emmanuel Onwe who announced this at the end of state
executive council meeting in Abakaliki, explained that the
exercise will be carried out simultaneously while nobody will
be exempted.
According to him the state deputy Gov Dr Kelechi Igwe is
heading committee that is going to setup 84 points for the
verification exercise across the entire state, noting that
teachers in secondary schools are not to proceed on holiday
until the 15th of August to enable them participate in the
exercise at their various locations of work.
The briefing which was jointly held by the commissioners
of education prof John Eke, information Dr Emmanuel Onwe
and their environment counterpart chief Moses Ogodo Ali
reviewed that the executive council also accepted the
resolutions of the special salary reconciliation committee
that was setup by the state govt.
Other significant sections taken by the council include, the
construction of 500km of roads within the capital city which
council resolved to be executed under direct labour.
The comr for information disclosed that the council has
approved additional N30m for the completion of the ongoing
street electrification and other power projects across the
state while additional N50m was also approved for the
reticulation of water to the Abakaliki urban.
The council also decided that the state govt will no longer
take the responsibility of paying allowances to policemen
who are deployed to guide banks in the state in view of her
inadequate financial resources.
Adding his voice, the comr for education prof John Eke
expressed govt concern over the falling standard and quality
of education particularly in the primary and secondary
school sector and reviewed that council considered setting
up of a functional supervisory and monitory unit as very
important as to salvage the system.
The comr for environment chief Moses Ogodo Ali
disclosed that council deliberated on some measures that
would help to make Ebonyi state the cleanest state in the
country.
