2016 Xmas: Umahi announces 13th month salary bonus for Ebonyi workers

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has said he would pay one month salary bonus as part of his Christmas package to workers. Umahi, who was on a visit to the Ebonyi State University permanent site in Ezzamgbo, said in spite of the recession in the country and the fact that the state is one of the lowest recipients of federal allocations, his administration was determined to improve the lot of its worke rs. Explaining that junior workers would receive 100 per cent bonus and senior workers 50 percent , he challenged the university authorities to emulate his administration by paying salaries on or before 20th of every month.

Senate Rejects Magu As EFCC Chairman, Cites Security Report

The Senate has rejected Ibrahim Magu’s nomination as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Aliyu Abdullahi who addressed journalists after a closed-door session on Thursday, said the rejection was based on “security report.” “The Senate wishes to inform the public that based on available security report, the Senate cannot proceed with the confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. “The nomination of Ibrahim Magu is hereby rejected and has been returned to the President for further action,” Mr. Abdullahi said. He said the rejection would be communicated to President Muhammadu Buhari to take further action.

Embattled acting chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu faces further scrutiny from the Senate after it emerged that a businessman under investigation paid N40m for his accommodation, according to security report by the DSS. The DSS also alleged that retired Air Commodore Mohammed Umar paid the sum of N40m for the rented apartment, which costs N20m per annum. Ebonyi inaugurates national ID card committee

Ebonyi State Government has inaugurated a seven- man committee on sensitization and monitoring of the enrollment and registration of Ebonyians and legal residents into the Data Base of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). The Kenneth Uhuo-led committee has a mandate to assist and collaborate with the NIMC to ensure that every resident of the state got registered. The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Chief Clement Nweke while inuagurating the committee in the Government House, Abakaliki on Friday, explained that the committee became necessary following recent revelation by the NIMC that only five per cent of Ebonyi residents

FUNAI VC TO HOSTS GRADUANDS

The acting chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) Ebonyi State chapter, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze has faulted the statements credited to governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha against minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu over Onu’s alleged inability to pay the rent for the APC state secretariat in Ebonyi State and marginalization of APC members in appointments by the Muhammadu Buhari’s administration,  describing it as ‘noisy ranting and insult of the highest order’. Global Vision Ltd., owned by Buhari’s SGF, Babachir Lawal got over N200 million contract to clear GRASS in Yobe State IDP camp. 3. Global Vision Ltd. was incorporated in 1990 to carry out ICT services; but it got contract to clear grass in 2016. 4. As at March 2016 that the contract was awarded to Global Vision Ltd, Babachir Lawal was still the director of the company.  He only resigned in September 2016. 5. Buhari’s SGF, Babachir Lawal is still the signatory to the account of Global Vision Ltd.
