SENATOR ANTHONY AGBO, CHINEDU OGAH, TONY EKO AND THOUSANDS OF OTHERS DEFECT TO APC IN EBONYI:

The structure and foundations of some political parties in Ebonyi were shaken as no fewer than 10,000 supporters of different political parties in the State defected to the All Progressives Congress(APC).
The mass defection was witnessed on Saturday at a Victory Solidarity Rally organised by the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in honour of the President-Elect and the Party's flag bear
er in the last presidential election, Gen.Muhammadu Buhari at Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
The defectors, who are mainly from the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and Labour Party(LP), from various local governments in the State, and about 11 Local Government Chairmen and other Ward Councillors were admitted into the APC as they declared their unalloyed support for the President-Elect, Gen.Muhammadu Buhari and the party's national leader, who is equally from Ebonyi State, Dr.Ogbonnaya Onu.
Some of the notable defectors include the Ebonyi State PDP Youth Leader, Comrade Chinedu Ogah; the PDP Zonal Leader, Walter Akpan; Senator Anthony Agbo, the APGA guber candidate in the last governorship election, who also led thousands of his supporters and some party chieftains to the APC; other defectors include Afikpo North Local Government Chairman, Pharmacist Tony Eko, who led other members of the Labour Party from the area to APC, as they look foward to emancipating their people through the new party; and former Commissioner for Environment, Engr.Paul Okorie.
The new members were welcomed by the former Governor of old Abia State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Dr.Ogbonnaya Onu.
Dr.Onu assured the new members of equal treatment and encouraged them to carry the good news to their various local governments, while urging them to work for the APC at the grassroots.
The APC leader, Dr.Onu, also expressed disatisfaction with the outcome of the last general elections in the South East, noting that the elections in the zone were marred and marked with flaws.
He said: "The last general elections in the South East and the South South, to a large extent, were not free and fair. In most cases, the results of those elections were written in people's homes.
"Now, we want to assure you that the APC government would deliver free and fair elections to Nigeria. We would do it because we believe that power resides with the citizens and they decide who governs them.
"We can't have a few persons staying in one place and determining who wins elections. We cannot allow that to happen. We want all Nigerians to determine those that govern them."
