FIVE STATES UNDER EFCC INVESTIGATION FOR FRUDLENT ACTS

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is investigating five state governments in connection with suspected financial crimes, sources in the commission said on Tuesday. The states under probe by the EFCC included Kano, Jigawa, Imo, Ebonyi and Rivers. It was learnt that five other state governments were under watch but the commission had not moved against them.

Civil servants in Ebonyi on Wednesday began a three-day warning strike to press home their demand for improved conditions of service. Mr Ikechukwu Nwafor, the Chairman ofTrade Union Congress (TUC), Labour Side, told newsmen in Abakaliki that the three-day strike which commenced on Wednesday, Jan. 21 would end Friday, Jan. 23. ELECHI SIDELINED, BOOED AS JONATHAN 'S CAMPAIGN TRAIN VISITS EBONYI.

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Martin Elechi was on Friday booed by some party supporters during the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital. This is also as the Governor was sidelined and denied the opportunity of speaking at the rally. Elechi was listed on item 9 of the official programme of the event to speak but he could not be called throughout the event, as the National Chairman of the party, Adamu Muazu handed the flag of the party to the governorship candidate of PDP, Engr Dave Umahi, who is also the Deputy Governor of the State. TIME UP FOR GOVERNOR MARTIN ELECHI

Governor Elechi should start now to tidy up his documents and prepare a handover note.
